ShieldID Basic vs Vetted: What Each Membership Status Means

ShieldID uses Basic Member and Vetted Member labels for different purposes, and neither label should be stretched beyond its exact meaning. Clear status language helps vehicle owners use the directory without turning a listing or completed review into an unsupported certification, guarantee, or promise about a future job.

What Basic Member means

A Basic Member is listed in the ShieldID directory with current source-backed business and specialty information. Basic Members have not been vetted by ShieldID. Basic status does not mean a vetting review is underway, scheduled, promised, or guaranteed.

The Basic profile is useful for discovering a shop, reviewing its listed specialties and service area, and reaching the business through its current contact path. The vehicle owner must still confirm the shop's scope, products, pricing, scheduling, preparation, installation, care instructions, and warranty responsibility.

What Vetted Member means

A Vetted Member completed the approved ShieldID review and received human approval. Vetted does not mean certified. It is not a guarantee of every installation, employee action, product, schedule, price, representation, maintenance outcome, or warranty decision.

A completed review provides additional membership context, but it does not replace the vehicle-specific conversation or the independent shop's responsibility for the work it accepts. Conditions, personnel, products, and practices can change, which is why written job details and direct questions remain important.

What neither status means

• Neither status makes ShieldID the installer or seller for an independent shop's job.
• Neither status creates a universal price, package, timeline, product, or warranty.
• Neither status replaces inspection of the vehicle and selected service.
• Neither status authorizes claims that are not present in the current approved profile.
• Neither status prevents a customer from asking for written preparation, coverage, care, and responsibility details.

How to use a profile responsibly

Start with the shop's current listed specialties, location or service area, and profile details. Contact the shop with the vehicle year, make, model, condition, desired result, and coverage goal. Ask for an inspection when appropriate and keep the written estimate, final invoice, product information, care guidance, and warranty material.
